Kenya recorded their third win in the East Africa Under 20 handball qualifying Challenge with a sweet but laboured 24-19 win over neighbors Uganda, Wednesday.
The women’s team now has to beat winless Tanzania,Thursday to qualify for the African challenge.
Tanzania has so far lost all her matches going down to 17-21 to Burundi. The Kenyan squad that has so far recorded three wins first against Rwanda and Burundi overcame Uganda in a charged match characterized by quick passes and speed which saw Ugandan Olivia Nanbaiya red carded after she was sent to the bench thrice with a two minute time out.
Farid Mohamed, the Kenya handball under 20 women coach is impressed by the way his charges has taken every game said that there is no injury worries in his side which boasts of some of the experienced players like Nairobi Water club Marina Andala who represented Kenya at the All Africa games and captain Michelle Adhiambo who has been outstanding in the Kenyan matches.
Adhiambo who missed two penalties that could have opened the host lead believes that Kenya will win the ticket adding that they have put up a spirited fight since the tournament begun as they seek the regional to represent East and central, zone five region in the main challenge cup later this year.
The Kenya Handball Federation is planning to a bid to host the Africa challenge trophy in Nairobi.
