Ambaka Makes Debut In Kenya Sevens

Mar 15, 2011

Wiliam Ambaka is the new inclusion in Benjamin Ayimba's squad to the fifth and sixth legs of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Hong Kong and Adelaide.  The Quins back, alongside Ben Nyambu (Nondies) and Horace Otieno (Mwamba) are the three changes to the side that did duty in Wellington and Las Vegas.

Ayimba expressed confidence in his selection and stated his desire to see his charges continue with their run of form that saw them collect twelve points during their last tour of duty. The team departs on Sunday 20th March 2011 at 2300hrs, returning on Tuesday 5th April 2011.

Looking at the crystal ball, had predicted who could be in the team and almost scored a bulls eye. Patrice Agunda has a finger injury which saw him swap places with Horace Otieno who has been struggling to gain lost form.

It is interesting that there has been gossip that there is a cartel from Mwamba which decides who should be in the team. This is because of the number of Mwamba players in the squad. It was the same story when Impala RFC used to provide the bulk of the team. Maybe, the talk will soon move to Quins who also have four players in the team!

Our prediction: Humphrey Kayange, Collins Injera, Lavin Asego (Mwamba RFC), Gibson Weru, Oscar Ouma (Nakuru RFC), Andrew Amonde (Kenya Commercial Bank), Benedict Nyambu, Biko Adema (Nondescripts RUFC), Leon Adongo, Sidney Ashioya, Patrice Agunda, Willy Ambaka (Kenya Harlequin FC).

The team as named by Ayimba: Oscar Ouma  Gibson Weru (Nakuru RFC), Horace Otieno, Collins Injera, Humphrey Kayange, Lavin Asego,(Mwamba RFC), Biko Adema, Ben Nyambu (Nondescrscripts RUFC), Leon Adongo, William Ambaka, Sidney Ashioya, (Kenya Harlequin FC)
Andrew Amonde (Kenya Commercial Bank),
Non Travelling Reserves: Peter Ocholla, Lawrence Buyachi (Impala), Patrice Agunda (Quin).
Management: Benjamin Ayimba (Head Coach), Felix Ochieng (Assistant Coach), Newton Ong’alo (Team Manager), George Odhiambo (Physiotherapist), Geoffrey Kimani  (Strength & Conditioning Coach).
