Attack-minded Uganda Cranes for Angola qualifier

National coach Bobby Williamson opted for an attack minded team as he named his squad to or Sunday’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Angola in Luanda.

The list that includes 14 foreign based pros named after Thursday’s closed training has Sweden based AIK FC professional player Martin Kayongo Mutumba and Netherland’s Fabian Derrick Kizito,, who have been impressive during training, but there was no room for Iceland based goalkeeper Abel Dhaira has been dropped.

The league top scorer Robert Ssentongo is not on the team, despite scoring in Cranes friendly games aganst the Under-20 team.

Bunamwaya goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge replaced Dhaira, who arrived late for training due to club engagement, though he will stay back and join the team in their encounter against Senegal at home next weekend. Tony Mawejje made it to the final team.

The 14 foreign pros are:Johnson Bagoole (Rwanda), Emmanuel Okwi (Tanzania), Mike Sserumaga (Ethiopia), Hassan Wasswa (Turkey), Henry Kalungi (USA) and Patrick Ochan (DR Congo),Habib Kavuma (Rwanda), Dan Wagaluka (Rwanda), Moses Oloya (Vietnam) and Tony Mawejje (Iceland).

 Denis Iguma from newly promoted Super division side Victoria University FC, Bunamwaya’s Godfrey Walusimbi and Simeon Masaba of URA joining Muwonge are the local players.

The team will be captained by Andy Mwesigwa (Kazakhstan). After Angola, Uganda will play Senegal next weekend in Kampala.
