Belgium based Samata to lead Tanzania against Harambee Stars

Tanzania Taifa Stars coah Charles Boniface Mkwasa has named his squad of 27 players that will play Kenya’s Harambee Stars in a friendly on May 29 in Nairobi.

Mkwasa opted for a young side recalling Nadir Haroub'Canavaro' and Yanga Goalkeeper Deogratius Munish 'Dida'.

“We have decided to give the young players a chance as we look to build our team and work on our formation,”Mkwasa was quoted by local Tanzanian press, adding that he picked players who had been outstanding in the local league.

Mbwana Samatta, who was voted the best African footballer playing on the African continent in 2015, signed for Belgium’s Genk early in the year and will captain the team against Stars. The Tanzanian team will report to camp on Monday, May 23 for the friendly which they will use as a build-up for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt.

Tanzania will play Egypt in Cairo on June 4.
