Feb 01, 2013

Former Gor Mahia striker, George ‘BlackBerry’ Odhiambo is expected to head to Armenia this weekend for trials with league side, Shirak FC.

Odhiambo hopes to sign a two year deal with Armenian team currently in its preseason stages.

He is currently training with Premier League side Nairobi City Stars which he joined this year. According to the Stars’ team manager Laurence Njenga, Blackberry is settling into the team fast and would soon be a formidable force in the side.

“He (Odhiambo) has been working very hard in training and I believe he will do well when the season kicks off since he has been very active and determined in training” said Njenga.

Njenga believes that City Stars will greatly benefit from the services of the former Azam player adding that he has a lot to offer to his side.

Blackberry joined the side in the current transfer period after moving from Tanzanian giants Azam last season.

He has also had an unsuccessful stint with Danish side Randers FC. The 2010 KPL player of the year donated a car, Lexus sports model car, valued at Ksh. 3 million to ailing former Gor Mahia organizing secretary Tom Ataro.

Ataro is admitted at the Nairobi West Hospital suffering from allergy related problems.

Blackberry who has visited Ataro three times at the hospital in the last two weeks owes his great success to Ataro whom he described as his childhood mentor.

Prime Minister Hon.Raila Odinga iwho cleared outstanding hospital bill of Ksh.250,000, is among those who have visited the former Gor official.
