Gor Mahia shopping for venue to host Sony Sugar

Nov 02, 2010

Gor Mahia are yet to decide where they will play their Kenyan Premier League match with Sony Sugar on Saturday. But venues for all the other seven matches had been confirmed.

AFC Leopards will be playing at Mumias Sugar Company’s sports complex for the second week in a row when they host Tusker. Leopards took their game there last Sunday and lost 0-1 to Karuturi Sports.

SuperSport’s televised double-headers will again be at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru on Saturday and at Karuturi Sports ground, Naivasha on Sunday.

In Nakuru, Red Berets meet Ulinzi Stars in a match-up of two teams with a sharp contrast.

Red Berets will be digging in for a victory at all costs, which would, perhaps, save them from relegation, while table-topping Ulinzi will be seeking to avoid defeat in order to maintain their hopes of winning the championship.

The early kick-off match at Nakuru will be Post Rangers v Mathare United.

In Naivasha, KCB play Thika United and Karuturi Sports confront Western Stima.

Gor Mahia were on Tuesday trying to have the recent ban on City Stadium lifted so that they could play their match there.

Other options for staging the match in Nairobi were being explored but not successful, there were indications that Thika Municipal Stadium would welcome the big Gor following for the second straight weekend.

Gor Mahia met Thika United on Saturday and won 1-0.
