Harambee stars begin training for CAN qualifier against Uganda

Sep 19, 2011

Local based players in the Harambee Stars squad began training on Monday for their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda on October 2.

Twenty four men have been called up and while the entire cast of the defense in the final team will come from this lot, many in midfield and striking positions will in the end give way to players based abroad who will be expected at least five days before the match in Kampala.

A huge number will be tested for the defence role. Some very fresh faces are Tusker pair of Isaac Otieno and Brian Mandela who have joined seasoned club-mate Jockins Atudo.

Kenya Commercial Bank’s Eugene Asike, a cornerstone in the KCB team during the current Kenyan Premier League season is also in the squad. Chemelil’s Victor Ochieng’ and Congo United’s goal-getter Rama Salim Mbugguss are also new call-ups who will be trying to impress as resourceful forwards.
