Lupopo out to end Sofapaka’s dream run in the Confed. Cup

Sofapaka's opponents in Sunday's Confederations Cup match,St Eloi Lupopo of Democratic Republic of Congo have adopted a cautious approach going into the crucial tie.

The team arrived on Thursday evening and held a light training session less than 24 hours later to spruce up for the match.

Coach Milosevic Lozar told journalists he is in Nairobi to win and expressed confidence that the short time they have been in Nairobi will not be a hinderance to their preparations.

"We know that there are only two days before the match is held but this is enough for us because we have been training at home and also taking part in the league."

While Kenyan club Sofapaka are struggling to make an impact in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), their opponents are currently at the top of the Congolese league with ten points after playing four matches ahead of CAF champions T.P Mazembe.

The French born coach is optimistic that the good run in the league will translate into a positive result against Sofapaka.

"It is not easy being ahead of a team like Mazembe and this shows you where we are at. We are hoping to extend the same form against our opponents," he added.

Though Lupopo carry a 2-1 advantage registered in the first leg, the coach said this may not matter much and was full of praise for his opponents.

He said Sofapaka left a big mark during their first leg encounter in Lubumbashi two weeks ago and for this reason he will not underrate them.

" I do not take them lightly. We are not looking down on them because we understand they are capable of beating us at home.”

Lupopo are perennial contenders for continental honors and last year narrowly lost out for a place in the money bracket of the champions league.
