Multimedia University men's team beat Thika Rovers 6-1 to move top of the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) national men's pool A standings while Telkom Orange completed their pool matches with a 9-0 humbling over Kenyatta University (KU).

The win propelled Multimedia to the top of the log, above Parklands and Park Road Tigers who both have 12 points with Multimedia enjoying a two goal difference advantage with a match still to go.

Multimedia missed the 2013 title by a single point and while the team has set sights on apromotion to the top tier league, they must fight their way up there with a-must-win clash against Parklands in their last group match when Park Road Tigers will be entertaining Thika Rovers.

Multimedia has never beaten Park Road since their debut in the league in 2011.

"Our form and discipline will be very key in the next match," noted Multimedia captain Dennis Burudi who is leading the team after KHU suspended coach John Jalang'o and is banned from the MMU technical bench.

Sam Mwangi-Thika Rovers Captain described his performance as ‘horrible’ saying that his players ‘under performed’ having missed out on the play-off place.

“Our performance was horrible and I guess its because we only train together once a week,” lamented Mwangi as they prepare to face Kabarak before they wind up their regular season with a match against Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Agriculture (JKUAT).

Thika Rovers have not been training together as a team for the entire season and their situation is worsened by the fact that they lack a training field.

Orange are waiting for the play off having topped the their pool above United States International University-Africa who still have a match to play.
