May 26, 2012

Multimedia University moved back to the top of the table of the Kenya Hockey Union, KHU national men's league with a solitary goal win over Kenyatta University in a rain marred match at the City Park Stadium.

Multimedia who were dislodged by University of Nairobi who were enjoying a one goal advantage got all the needed three points when captain Geofrey Asira exploited a counter attack to score the only goal in the 23rd minute, sweet revenge over KU who beat them in their last meeting at the KUSA games.

"That was a sweet win for us. KU is a good side and they beat us in KUSA games so today's win was a sweet," said an elated coach George Jalango.

The win took Multimedia’s point tally to 12 from four games while KU has three points from two games.

KU however will have to put Saturday's loss behind them as they welcome Kenya Polytechnic to the turf on Sunday.

Mount Kenya University also registered a slim win over NYS, thanks to a lone goal by Vincent Kuyah who ensured that they take their first three points in the league.

In the day’s premier league match, Nairobi Simba opened a three point lead over second place Strathmore University’s scorpions after a 2-1 win over struggling United States International University of Africa-USU-A. Simba took their point tally this season to 12 from five games.

On Sunday Telkom Orange will be seeking to extend their lead in the national women table when they take on fifth place Sliders while Vikings third with four points in the league will entertain Kenyatta University (KU) ladies as they look to take their tally to six points.

High riding Parklands will take on Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and technology- JKUAT in the national men's league as Kenya Poly entertain KU men.
