No major changes as Kimanzi names Stars Harambee Squad

Newly-appointed Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi kept faith in Romania-based midfielder Jamal Mohammed when he named his first squad after taking over from Zedekiah "Zico" Otieno.

Jamal, who was contemplating quitting national team duty after a burst up with Zico in Kampala during their game against Uganda over non-selection, was among three players recalled to the team.

The other fresh inclusions in Kimanzi's provisional 25-man squad are new call-up Clifton Miheso of Thika United and returnee Paul were of Tusker FC. The other surprise call-ups are the goalkeeping pairing of Duncan Ochieng of Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars' Jackton Odhiambo.

The named squad will face Seychelles in a two-legged 2014 World Cup preliminary round tie. The first leg will be played in Victoria on November 11th with the return leg slated for Nairobi four days later.

When Kimanzi was named the new coach on Tuesday, he emphasized the need to retain the bulk of Zico's squad for continuity. In keeping to his word, Kimanzi's squad is only slightly changed from the team that played Uganda Cranes under Zico four weeks ago.

Jamal is among the seven foreign-based professionals who have een called up. The others include skipper Dennis Oliech, Arnold Origi, James Situma, Dennis Odhiambo, Victor Mugubi and MacDonald Mariga.

According to team manager Edward Oduor, the team will report to camp on Sunday after the Kenyan Premier League weekend fixtures.

Foreign-based players are expected to jet in on Monday and Tuesday. The team is has pitched it's training camp at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, while residing at Milimani Hotel, Nairobi.

The final squad jets out to Victoria on Thursday just hours to the match.
