Kenya Police maintained their unbeaten run with a hard fought 2-0 win against Parklands Sports Club (PSC) in a Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League match at the City Park stadium on Wednesday reports Alvin Wesonga.

PSC were quick off the starting blocks with forward Allan Odongo exerting pressure on the opponents.

Kenya Police were almost caught napping in the third minute after PSC’s Akshay Harkhani failed to steer an Erick Odendo pass past goalkeeper Martin Agesa.

They came close again in the 10th minute in one of their numerous forages.

After absorbing the early pressure, Kenya Police bounced back a few minutes to the end of the first quarter from a nice midfield play by Richard Birir who combined well with Calvins Kanu who shot wide.

PSC shot stopper Farhad Shire denied Sammy Wokila a goal in the late minutes of the first half.

The law enforcers broke the deadlock through Moses Cheplaiti in the dying minutes of the first half from a penalty corner.

Shire denied Wokila

Shire denied Wokila again in the 38th minute after his backline was displaced by the fast attacking Kenya Police forward line.

Amos Barkibir added the second goal in the 47th minute from another penalty corner set piece.

According to Fredrick Okeyo the PSC captain, the match slipped from their hands. ”We had this match. We not necessarily had to win but even a draw could have served us well. It was just an issue of poor finishing,” sad Okeyo.

Kenya Police coach Patrick Mugambi commended his teams performance. ”The lads played well. The opponents were a good side but i liked how we utilized our penalty corners that's the way to go,” said Mugambi.

The tactician also said their main aim is to maintain their good form as they keep their hopes for the title this season.

Kenya Police are still at the helm of the table with 43 points, 10 ahead of second-placed Butali Sugar Warriors.

Wednesday results: Parklands Sports Club 0 Kenya Police 2.
