Ngong Road neighbours Kenya Harlequins and Impala RFC came out strongly in their Entreprise Cup matches on Saturday to advance to the quarter finals slated for next weekend.

Other qualifiers of the day were Homeboyz as well as Nondescripts RUFC and will join Nakuru RFC, Strathmore University, KCB and Mwamba RFC who were given a bye after reaching the semi-final of the Kenya Cup league.

Quins easily beat debutants Western Bulls 74-18 at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa ground to set up an expected epic encounter with Nakuru RFC, the newly crowned Kenya Cup champions Nakuru RFC.

The match will be played at the Nakuru Athletic Club next weekend. Michael “Tank” Otieno’s Blak Blad continued with their frustrating run losing 39-5 to Impala.

The varsity side was hoping to register their maiden victory this season but for a rejuvenated Impala who have found their winning touch after a faulty start.

Homeboyz awarded walkover

This was their sixth win in a row and it is this consistency that they will be hoping to carry on in their quarterfinal match against Mwamba RFC next weekend.

Homeboyz were awarded a 14-0 walkover against Kisumu RFC who failed to turn up at the University of Nairobi grounds. Head coach Paul Murunga seized advantage of the situation and took his players through light training.

They will now play KCB at the Ruaraka Sports Club in the quarterfinals. University of Nairobi side Mean Machine were a no match for Nondies going down 36-11 at the ASK Jamhuri Park.

The loss brought the students’ poor run this season to yet another saddening end while Nondies have booked a quarterfinal clash with Strathmore University who were the league runners up.

In Mwamba Cup; KCB II, Quins II, Kisumu II and Impala II reached the final eight stage after winning their respective matches. Quins beat Mean Machine 48-8 while Impala beat Daystar University 30-3. KCB was awarded a walkover against Eldoret.
