Mar 24, 2012

After playing a full match in her Italian debut where she provided the pass that helped her new team force a 1-1 draw away, Margaret Rotich is expected to line up again for HC Superba when play HF Valchisone on April 15.

Former Telkom Orange forward lining for the Genova-based Superba in the Italian serie A2F Hockey league recovered the ball from their half and dribbled through to the D-area before unleashing a simple pass to Sarah Ouerghi, who got an easy push of the ball through Argentia goal keeper's left leg to give the visitors an early lead.

Rotich who moved to Genova club from local Kenya Hockey Union league (KHU) champions, Telkom Orange guided her new team to a 1-1 draw in one of their last five games left before the season ends and the former Orange forward believes her new defensive midfield position at her new club, will steer the team to a top finish.

“It was a great match and I was so excited to play my first match with my new teammates. Our coach Luigi Esposito had already set a welcoming mood in the changing room,” said Rotich.

Rotich who is the only African player for the side helped the club she joined in February 2012 to move one step on top of table to fourth, dislodging Argentia who is lying fifth. H. Cernusco tops the tables followed by CUS Torino and HC Valchisone who are second and third respectively and the player wants to cement her position in the Esposito starting line up.

“I was part of the whole action but during the second half I was given a permanent marker by the other team which destroyed my game plan.

Here the competition is quite high and so orderly” Rotich told sportsnewsarena.com.

The new signing, Rotich still has three more games to play for Superba against HF Lorenzoni ris on April 22 followed by H. Cernusco on April 29 before wrapping it up with a match against CUS Torino on May 6.
