Mbaya who won the Kenya open handicap category has promised to put up a spirited fight in the AJC tournament.

“I played well in this tournament (Kneya open)and I would like to carry the good form to Egypt, I want to play tennis and my dream is that one day I will play in the Fed cup,” said Mbaya, a fervent fan of Novak Djokovic.

Last year the Kenyan team never made it past the third round of the 16 and under tournament but coach Gitau Kimani is going all out to make sure that Kenya improves on its last position.

“This tournament is very tough but my target is to ensure that we finish above last year’s result where most players never made it past the third round,” said Kimani.

“With the coming of corporate institution like Real Insurance to support tournament like Kenya open we will surely increase the level of competition and I think we’re on the right track, added Kimani who is also one of the three coaches at the community outreach, founded by Veronica Osogo, the  Zion Zone Tennis Foundation.

Kimani who is also a Kenya Lawn tennis Association council member will be the only official that will travel with the team to Egypt tourney whose draw will be conducted on April 3.
