Sliders just one match from finishing second

  • Sliders have one match against Mombasa Sports Club which if they win will see them finish second to Telkom Orange.

Sliders are closing in on the second place in the Kenya Hockey Union women's national league.

On Sunday, Sliders who have not been in action for over three weeks beat Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) 2-0 at the City Park Stadium, Dorsilla Agunda scored the first goal in the 37th minute and Doris Kirui added the second in the 70th minute.

In the men's Premier League, the battle between Butali Sugar Warriors and Kenya Police intensified with both teams posting contrasting wins.

On Saturday, Kenya Police came from two goals down to beat Park Road 3-2. Andrew Kamau scored twice for Park Road in the 18th and 37th minutes before the policemen replied with three goals in 21 minutes to win.

Moses Cheplaiti started the comeback with a goal in the 47th minute and Willis Okeyo leveled in the 59th minute before Samson Kibirir scored the winner in the 68th minute.

On Friday, Zack Aura scored the loan goal for Butali Warriors in the 26th minute against Green Sharks. Bitali have played 21 matches and Kenya Police 24.

Wazalendo led 2-1 against United States International University - Africa but were unable to hold on allowing the students to come back and share the spoils 3-3. Two quick goals by Stanley Chege (Wazalendo) and Alex Kubasu (USIU-A) saw the sides level 1-1.

Nelson Shilaku scored a brace in the 31st and 35th minutes for Wazalendo before Kubasu completed his brace in the 50th minute. Ignatius Akenga leveled for USIU-A in the 55th minute.

Sikh, Union were 4-1 winners over Mvita XI in Mombasa.

In the national men's league, Chase Sailors were the biggest winners. They beat Impala 6-0 on Good Friday. George Mutira scored two goals in the second and 29th minutes with Titus Ngolia also scoring twice in the fourth and fifth minutes.

Sylvester Muiruri scored a goal in the 11th minute for a comfortable 5-0 lead at half time. Norman Garbula completed the rout in the 62nd minute.
