Top seed Ndenga set for Nairobi Open Wheelchair final

Women's top seed Jane Ndenga will be the only kenyan in the final of the Nairobi Open Wheelchair Tennis Tour at the Nairobi Club on Wednesday.

Ndenga will face Morrocan Malika Khelifi in the final after she defeated compatriot Rahel Akoth Aler 6-2 6-3 in the qualifying match that lasted just over an hour on Tuesday.

The Moroccan had knocked out Tanzania’s Lucy Julius in straight sets. Without losing a game.

The Moroccans will be looking for a sweep of the singles title with the event top seed Lhaj Boukartacha ranked 92 and second seed Ayoub Ettali ranked 95 all sailed through to the finals.

The two Moroccans will face off in the men’s Singles after knocking out fast improved Kenyan opponents barely five years into the sport. Boukartacha beat Kenya’s Mens captain Caleb Odiyo (ranked 637) in straight sets of 6-1 6-3 as his compatriot Ettali reigned supreme over another debutant Collins Omondi 6-1 6-1.

The Nairobi Open which is being hosted in Kenya for the first time is part of the Uniqlo Wheelchair Tennis Tour.

The event on the wheelchair tour calendar is a Futures event which is the first tier into the foray professional tennis.

The Nairobi Open has brought together players from four African nations that is Morocco, Mauritius, Ghana and Tanzania.

Other events featured in this Inaugural Uniqlo Wheelchair World Tour include Mens and women doubles , Men and women consolation and a junior singles .
