Trailblazers and Thunder serve spicy duel

Ulinzi Warriors and Zetech University have taken the early lead in the Kenya Basketball Federation men’s Premier League and women’s Premier Leagues.

The soldiers have played five games and maintain an unbeaten run to lead with 10 points. They are out of action this weekend but are guaranteed of remaining at the top for another week.

Strathmore University Blades comes second with nine points after winning four out of their five games while Co-operative Bank is third. The bankers are on seven points having won three games and lost one.

This weekend, they play Lions who are on a 0-5 run and have five points. Traditionally, a Co-operative Bank versus Lions game would have been talk of the town but it has since lost its excitement.

Lions are struggling and in desperate need of a quick turnaround.

Trailblazers will play Nairobi City Thunder in a game that is promising to be exciting. Thunder is on six points, one below their opponent who has played a game more.

Ulinzi and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) who have played two games only are the unbeaten teams.

In the women’s league, Zetech have five points from two wins and a loss. They are not playing this weekend.

Equity Bank will play Kenyatta University Oryx. Both teams have played two games each with Equity winning all and Oryx losing all.

Oryx have never beaten Equity in the league. Equity and KPA are the unbeaten sides in the league with two wins apiece.

UoN Terrorists not in action

University of Nairobi’s Terrorist lead the men’s Division I table with eight points from three wins and two losses but are not in action this weekend.

Barclays Bank is second on seven points while Nebulas Kakamega are third with five points. Lakeside and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) are winless while Upper Hill and Zetech University are unbeaten with two wins each.

In Division II, Blazers jointly lead with seven points from three wins and a loss and will play Egerton University on Saturday.

Egerton together with EMYBA and NEOSASA are on seven points.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) who are on five points will play winless Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS).

There will be three matches in the women’s Division I league. Daystar University will play Kenya College of Accountancy-University (KCA-U) while Strathmore II face Egerton University.

On Saturday, Egerton will face Gladiators who are winless in four games. Strathmore has seven points from three wins and a loss while Egerton has four points from a win and two losses.

Footprints lead the log with maximum points after winning all their four games.
