Wanga, Rama out of Harambee Squad for Bafana tie

There was no room for AFC forward Allan Wanga and Gor Mahia’s  wonder boy Rama Salim in the Harambee stars squad named by Head Coach Henri Michel for October 16’s friendly against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

Mathare United striker Andrew Tololwa is the only new face from those who had been called up earlier and will join fourteen others for a residential camp at the Nyayo National Stadium starting  Monday, 15.

Others who failed Michel’s test AFC striker Mike Baraza, Sofapaka’s Humphrey Mieno and Tusker custodian Boniface Oluoch.

Gor Mahia, Tusker Premier League title contenders forms the bulk of the team with four players; Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka have three each while Thika United, Western Stima, Mathare United, Tusker FC and AFC Leopards all have one player in the team.

Among those who have made the cut include Gor Mahia goalkeeper Jerim Onyango, Ulinzi Stars duo of Geoffrey Kokoyo and Mulinge Ndetto, Tusker FC creative midfielder Peter Opiyo and Western Stima on-form striker Wesley Kemboi. These are among the few who impressed the Frenchman during the three days training camp assembled last month.

According to Football Kenya Federation, FKF, the team will be beefed up by the arrival of nine foreign based players named last week at least five days to the match day. The players are expected to train daily and will be released to their respective clubs on Wednesday, October 17.
