Newly appointed Gor Mahia caretaker coach John ‘Bobby’ Ogolla has asked fans not expect miracles when the team plays Mozambique’s Ferroviaro de Maputo on Saturday.

Gor will be seeking to overturn a three-goal deficit against the Mozambican side in the return leg of a preliminary round of the Caf Confederations Cup at the Nyayo National Stadium.

“It is a tall order and I do not want to promise the fans anything. Anything can happen in football but I would just like to urge our fans to come and enjoy the match”, Ogolla said.

The legendary former Gor and Harambee Stars defender, who was appointed the new coach on Monday after the club overhauled its technical bench led by Anaba Awono, said that his stay at the club will be purely tied on performance.

“The duration of my stay at the club will be determined by my performance. I realize the enormity of the task and I will have to justify my appointment with results on the field”, he said Thursday when for the first time he oversaw the team’s training session at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The veteran coach, however, expressed faith in K’Ogalo’s playing unit.

“This team has great potential. I have seen quality and I am confident that the players can turn around their performance on the pitch”, he said.

Club secretary-general, George Bwana, who received the coach at the team’s training base said they reached an agreement with Ogolla to stay in charge for 3 months as the club sources for a permanent replacement.

“Ogolla will be free to work alongside whoever he identifies for the job."

Bwana added that Ogolla has been given a free hand to pick his deputy. Former international player Tom Ogweno will in the meantime work with Ogolla in the capacity of the team manager. “ We want to have a technical bench that pulls in the same direction”, Bwana said.

Ogolla, however, gave no indication on who he has in mind as an assistant.

“I need time to think over it. I will have to consult with Ogweno because he is the one who has been with the team in the last few days”, he said.
