Kenya will now play Canada in the Bowl quarter finals after losing to Wales. Kenya dropped to the bowl after comprehensively losing 15-33 to an ordinary looking Wales in the last Pool B match of the Tokyo Sevens, the seventh tournament of the HSBC International Rugby Board Sevens World Series.

It was Kenya who set the pace scoring two quick tries to lead 10-0. Oscar Ouma completed a darting run by Dennis Ombachi from a line out to score the first try. Biko Adema missed the conversion.

The second try was by Ashioya who ran on the blindside from a scrum down beating his opposite number Lee Williams.

A penalty to Wales saw they launch their first attack and Cory Allen scored an unconverted try to narrow the gap 10-5 in Kenya’s favor. With the buzzer gone, Lee Williams scored a try which enabled Wales to lead 12-10 at halftime.

In the second half Williams stretched the lead 19-10 with a converted try. With two minutes left, a team effort which saw Horace Otieno stopped short of the line was completed by Andrew Amonde after William Ambaka and Eden Agero had their hands on the ball.

Wales narrowly led 19-15 before cracks appeared on Kenya’s defence and Wales added two converted tries.
