Not even an arithmetical miracle can save Mwamba from losing the Kenya Rugby Union national Sevens Circuit.

The Black Shirts, finalists in the opening two tournaments and finalists in last year’s George Mwangi Kabeberi Sevens were beaten 10-5 by Blak Blad in the final match of the day at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa ground on the opening day of the Kabeberi Sevens.

The loss confined Mwamba to the bowl where they will face Bungoma on Sunday. From their first match, Mwamba limped past Bungoma 17-12 and posted an identical margin against Catholic University.

The vintage ‘kulabu’ magic was not there as the solid rock was cracked by Blak Blad in the final match of the day.

Before the tournament kicked off, Mwamba were third on 58 points and needed a win to keep hopes alive as Kenya Harlequin FC and Kenya Commercial Bank led with 68 and 67 points.

As the fast fading Mwamba slid down the scale, a charged KCB led the assault on the title by comfortably winning their matches and romping into the quarter finals.

They beat Mt. Kenya University 61-0 in 14 minutes and Comras 47-5 before seeing off Western Bulls 36-0.

Nakuru, finalists at the Menengai Oil Prinsloo Sevens played only one match on the opening day but reached the quarter final by beating Daystar University 24-5.
