260 qualify for second round in Pilsner League Challenge

A total of 132 pool players from 44 clubs earned themselves a place in the the Pilsner League of Kings Pool Challenge preliminaries stage that ended over last weekend.

The 132 qualifiers joined additional 126 who had earlier booked their places in the pub outlet showdowns.

At least three contestants qualified in each pub outlet and will battle against each other during the pub against pub competition to secure their quarter final spots next weekend, furthering their dream to compete at the World Eight Ball Pool Championship that takes place in Blackpool, UK in from June 23,2021 with a shot at the 8,000 Euros grand prize.

Pilsner Brand Manager, Francis Mworia said that they have been impressed by the huge registration turnout and level of skills in the tournament.

Kenya Pool Players Association (PPA) Vice Chairman Fred Karanja predicts a tough second round.

"I am impressed with the challenge participation at the grassroots level and we are upbeat of the next rounds to come."

The first round of the competition has been successfully completed with over 86 outlets covered. The second round of League of Kings hunt “hood eliminations” is to start on the 30th March to 6th April 2013.These will trickle down to the regional eliminations, and finally the Nationals.

The tournament to be broadcasted live on Sky Sports, is run by the World Eight-Ball Pool Federation (WEPF), an international pool governing body that oversees international tournaments and rankings.

This tournament departs from the past winner-takes-all format with winners in different regional categories winning cash and merchandise.
