• African Women Championship:Nigeria tear Cameroon Apart,SA lose

Nigeria will take on Equatorial Guinea in Sunday’s final of the Africa Women Championships after winning their respective semi-finals and book their tickets for the 2011 World Cup in Germany.

The Super Falcons tore Cameroons Lioness apart with a 5-1 drubbing in the semi final match in Sinaba, South Africa on Thursday.

Nigeria won a corner kick in the 32nd minute of the game and what might turned out to be the most beautiful goal of the tournament was scored by Helen Ukaonu as she shot straight into the net.

Cameroon a goal down and a player down after the sending off Bou Cathy five minutes before they conceded the goal for insulting the referee. 

Desire Oparanozie headed in for Nigeria deep in added time just before the break.

The second half started with Cameroon scoring early on in the 47th minute through Grace Ngock.

Nigerian striker Perpetua Nkwocha scored a hat trick in the 58th, 64th and an 80th minute penalty; that put her top of the scorers list with 10 goals.

Defending African champions Equatorial Guinea beat hosts South Africa 3-1 after a barren draw after regular time.

Equatorial Guinea capitalized on a defensive error in the 12th minute of extra time to score the first goal othrough Salimata Simpore.

Things took a turn for the worse for Banyana Banyana in the 18th minute of extra time after an own goal by defender Dluibu.

It was all over in the 25th minute as yet another defensive blunder by South Africa gifted Simpore her second goal in the game.

South Africa got a consolation goal three minutes later through striker Dlamin Amanda.

Equatorial Guinea qualified for a 2nd successive final.
