Apr 01, 2012-

A drama packed third day at the Barclays Kenya Open saw mixed fortunes for many, including Kenya’s Dismas Indiza.

He carded a 4-over par 75, to see his chances of charging for the title diminish. He is currently 21st tied.

Whilst the crowds were following Indiza and Njoroge, another Dane was making moves. As two-round leader, Madsen, was dropping shots, his countryman Lasse Jensen posted a fine round of 65 and will chase for his first win, alongside Englishman Gary Lockerbie both tied on 8-under par.

The two round leader, Morten Orum Madsen shot a one-over, 72 and dropped to 5-under. The head to head for the championship title will start at 10.55am, and could be a matchplay scenario.

Lockerbie has been the most consistent player this week. A former European tour player, a win this week would probably get his card back.

The top twenty in the Challenge Order of Merit graduate to the main tour, at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Kenya still hopes for a local winner. Brian Njoroge hung on to a top ten place and is lying fourth tied.

His third round 71, level par kept him at 4-under, 209 aggregate, an equal number behind the leaders. Muthaiga’s Nicholas Rokoine had the best round of the Kenyan professionals, shooting a 2-under 69, and is tied with South African based, fellow club member Stefan Engell Andersen on 1-under.

Both players are 212 for the tournament, in tied 21st place. They are paired with a former Ryder Cup player, Nick Dougherty at 9.30am.

Other Kenyans who made the cut, including Ganeev Giddie who dropped to 3-over from his two-day total 1-under as Anil Shah struggled to keep his earlier form of level par, carded a 4-over. But where are the South Africans?

Last year, they took the top three places. Last year’s runner-up Tyrone Ferreira, on 3-under is the closest to the top together with compatriot Justin Walters.

But the winner could well emerge from any of chasing pack.Whatever the case, the 30th Kenya Open is going to be exciting to watch.
