• Jason Dunford stars at the World cup in Dubai

Commonwealth Games gold medallist,Kenya's Jason Dunford wrapped up another fine showing at the the 2011 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Dubai with three Gold medals in the 50m Butterfly,50m and 100m Freestyle.

Barely a month after he was crowned the swimmer of the 2011 All African Games where he topped the standings with two Gold, Three silver and Three bronze(two from relay events) in Maputo. He picked his first Gold in the 100m beating favourite Kai Wai David Wong of Hong Kong.

According to the event website,the 25-year-old Dunford had demonstrated his scintillating efforts in the dual-lap freestyle discipline qualifying strongly from the qualifiers with a timing of 49.34 seconds.

The Kenyan then raced to his second gold in the 50 Butterfly which he won in 23.33 seconds with Ukraine Andril Govorok taking the silver on friday.

Dunford'ss third gold of the meet on saturday was a shared victory in the 50m freestyle with Hungarian Krisztian Takacs, in 21.78, Adrii Govorov (UKR) on 21.93 as the last man inside 22.

He placed third in the 100m butterfly which was won by South African Le Clos Chad in 50.66 with Dunford tapping the wall in 51.70. Russian Evgeny Korotyshkin who holds the world record in the event was second in 51.14.

The event World Cup is a seven stop series, which started on Friday, October 7, in Dubai. The next stop will be at Stockholm, on October 15.
