• KVF launch regional training & development centres

The Kenya Volleyball Federation has launched a countrywide youth development programme that will help spread the game and identify talented players from various centers.

The programme will be based in schools in various regions where coaches and renowned national team players will train talented players.

“FIVB (Federation of International volleyball Board) gave as a donation of about four million shillings for this project specifically and am sure this centers will act as feeders for our junior and senior national teams,” said Waithaka Kioni, KVF Chairman.

The support is part of FIVB development Fund that is meant to assist direct implementation of new development projects that are likely to improve the performance and situation of the sport at the national level. The youth project is specifically meant for the development of the game amongst the youth and in schools.

The KVF youth programme will see talented players from both primary and secondary schools train at the 12 centers during the school holidays.

Malava boys and Lugulu girls will serve, as the centers for Western while Kwanthanze and Matuu are the Eastern region hub .

Sosoit, Chetenye, Cheptil and Paul Boit are the centers identified from the Rift while Shimba is the coastal training point.

The already established National Youth Talent centre supported by the government and UNICEF will act as the centre for the city and its environs.
