Defending champions Kenya Prisons beat archrivals Kenya Pipeline in straight sets to secure their second straight women’s African Club Championships in Nairobi.

Prisons roared on by their Captain who watched the match from the stands at the Africa Nazarene University Gymnasium brushed aside Pipeline in identical sets 25-22, 25-22, and 25-22 confirming their ticket yet again to the FIVB world championships in Qatar in December.

This was the second time that Prisons carried the day against Pipeline following their 2010 win in yet another Kenyan final in Mauritius last year.

Pipeline started strongly gaining an early lead at 12-7 but Prisons rallied back to win the set 25-22.

Prisons stand in captain Jane Wacu was outstanding in the nets against the Pipeline team who seemed to have been disjointed by the early loss of their right attacker Asha Makuto through injury.

Pipeline took charge of the second set early and held on to win 25-22. The third set was almost a repeat of the third as the winners gained an early lead and although Pipeline fought to catch up at 20-19 after trailing 18-9, Prisons earned a run of points to win the game in yet another identical score of 25-22.

Egypt’s Al Ahly defeated Cameroon’s Injs 3-1 for third place while Ethiopia’s dark horses of Water Sports came from behind to beat Jos South of Nigeria 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 11-25, 25-16, 15-10).
