• Kenya women juniors qualify for Africa Handball challenge

Kenya's under 20 handball team booked the zonal ticket for the International Handball Federation Challenge Challenge Cup after they finished unbeaten the just concluded East and Central tournament at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The Kenyans thursday thrashed under dogs, Tanzania 30-10 in their final match and will now await other zonal qualifies to know the draw.

Captain Michell Adhiambo and Phoebe Akinyi gifted Kenya with six goals each to give coach Farid Mohamed a good record which he hopes to carry to the main championship whose date and venue are yet to be determined.

Mohamed said that the team will begin training immediately adding that he will make several changes to the squad before the next assignment.

"We have several players with injuries and I don't  know exactly when they'll return. Im planning to replace them and a few others," said the Shimba Hill secondary School Handball head coach.

The coach revealed that he will be scouting for talent during the national secondary School championship set for May in Eldoret before training begins in April.

Kenya Handball Federation Chairman, Simon Paul who watched the juniors cruise past Tanzania said that the team will resume residential camp two months before the main championship.

Tanzania finished last with no point with Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda coming second, third and fourth respectively in the girls category.
