• Kenya women's Beach Volleyballers qualify for CAVB Continental cup

Kenya women's beach volleyball team secured their ticket to the finals of the CAVB continental Cup after qualifying for the finals of the second round Pool 3 of the Africa Cup Zonal phase held at the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Lomé, Togo on Saturday.

Kenya, bronze medalist at last month's All Africa Games beat Gabon and will now play South Africa, who also qualified for the continental cup after knocking out the host team in the semis.

The Kenyan pair of Catherine Ndasaba and Margaret Indilara are the top seeds of the event  with South Africa second, Gabon third, Togo fourth and Guinea- Conakry fifth.

 The winner of of the CAVB continental cup in June 2012 will represent Africa in the 2012 London Olympic Games. South Africa and Egypt men Beach volleyball teams advanced to the final earning a place in the finals of the CAVB Continental cup.    

In the Men’s event the Togo pairing of Gadji / Antao took  their Egyptian rivals to a soaring marathon of 75 minutes first match which ended in favor of Togo with a win of the first match 2-1 (26-24,18-21,15-8).

Egypt’s team then rebounded to win the remaining three matches to advance to the Finals.  In the second semi-final, the top seeded South African took over Congo RDC, in 4 straight matches to advance to the finals.
