Defending champions Kenya Prisons and Kenya Pipeline booked their semifinal berths at the ongoing African Clubs Championship CAVB after a straight sets victory over their opponents in Tuesday’s quarterfinal matches.
Boosted by their core players who also feature for the national women’s team Kenya Pipeline secured a perfect sets score of (25-21, 25-20, 25-15) in their match at the Nazarene University and will now play National Institute of Youth and Sports, (INJS) of Cameroon.
INJS on the other hand maintained their perfect record in the championships with a win over Jos South of Nigeria 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18) at Brookhouse International School.
Prisons were way above Ethiopia’s Watersports whom they outclassed in sets of 25-11, 25-17,25-17.
The fancied Al Ahly of Egypt crushed Bejaia of Algeria 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 27-25) in another quarterfinal match as they seek to win the continental trophy they last won two years ago
Defending champions Kenya Prisons were scheduled to play high riding Water Sport of Ethiopia.
In the ranking matches, St Dennis of Re Union, a guest team beat Les As of Burundi 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-11)while Naceria of Algeria overpowered Kutlwano of Botswana 3-1 (25-18, 25-14, 20-25, 25-18) .
Re Union is not an affiliate of the Confederation of African Volleyball.
The winners of the club championships will book their tickets for FIVB clubs Championship in Qatar this August.
