MYSA writes history at the East Africa Cup

Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) won a total of eight trophies in the just concluded 2011 East Africa Cup tournament in Moshi, Tanzania.

Lucy Nyambura blocked two penalties in the Under 13 finals to deny CHRISC of Rwanda the first spot and her energy was recognized when she was awarded the best player/ goalkeeper award in a match played to a barren in the normal time before the team was crowned the winner.

MYSA-Huruma converted four penalties to snatch the slim win against their opponent to take the final score to 4-2. Morris Maina scored a total of eight goals in the boys Under 16 while Sheryl Nyambura U-13 netted 16 goals which saw them win the golden boot to Kenya as the curtain came to an close to the four day tournament which brought together eight East and Central Africa countries.

Mathare United U- 16(girls) could not convert the numerous chances which came their way and were punished when CHRSC of Uganda won the match 4-2 in the finals to lift the trophy at the Memorial Field stadium in Moshi.

CHRISC of Rwanda finished the runners up in the under 13 category while MYSA Mwiti finished third with Sports in Action from Zambia came forth.

In girls Under 16, CRISC of Uganda finished top followed by Mathare United in second with Gasto from Thika coming third. Sports in Action (Zambia) settled for fourth place.
