Kenya Commercial Bank scrum half Peter Mutai returns to the Kenya squad as head coach Michael Otieno made six changes to the side that did duty against Uganda last weekend when they lost 19-5 in Kampala.

Other new call ups are Strathmore youngster Tony Onyango and the Quins trio of center Dennis Muhanji, fly half Isaac Adimo and backrow Anthony Mutai. Peter Mutai and Tony Onyango will start on Saturday while Muhanji, Adimo and Tony Mutai will start off the bench.

Addressing the press at the RFUEA grounds, Otieno noted, “ We come into this fixture seeking to overturn a fourteen point deficit and the opening twenty minutes of tomorrow’s encounter will be very critical. We must score and not concede during this period.”

On changes to the squad, Otieno said, “We have tweaked the squad slightly, with an eye towards giving the side the cutting edge when they step out onto the grounds on Saturday. Peter Mutai has the experience at scrum half, and will be critical in linking up play between the backs and forwards.

Onyango, the young Strathmore winger, has previously featured for the Kenya Sevens squad but this is his first fifteens call up.

Mutai missed the first leg in Kampala through injury but has recovered sufficiently and will start off the bench.” Quins prop Joel Ng’ang’a retains the captaincy.

The Kenya Women’s team who also trail Uganda 15-6 from their Women’s Elgon Cup first leg clash in Kampala last weekend was also named at the same venue.

Team Manager Yvonne Makwali, speaking ahead of Saturday’s tie said, “We intend to use our mobile, agile forwards to not only secure and retain possession, but also make inroads into Ugandan territory as we go in pursuit of points and ultimately the Elgon Cup title.”

Kenya’s Women will be without captain Abedeen Shikoyi, injured during last weekend’s first leg clash and have handed the captaincy to Doreen Remour.
