Strathmore University failed to go top of the Kenya Hockey Union, KHU women national league after they were held to a barren draw by Virgin Vikings at City Park Stadium on Saturday.

Meshack Senge whose side was dented by his top forward Miriam Oundo's Yellow card for committing an unwanted fowl on Charity Miller in the 48th minute.

Vikings assistant coach, Tony Raposo admitted his side did not play as expected but the coach who stood in for Clyde Mmbaha was pleased with the draw.

“My players were under a lot of pressure to win and the draw isn’t bad for today. The only thing we need to address is the discipline issue, umpires need to rein in on this,”said Raposo who was reacting to Oundo’s action where the former Pangani Girls student threw her playing stick after she was yellow card.

The draw now left Strathmore with five points, one less than Telkom Orange who have played a game less while Vikings remained at position three with four points.

Multimedia University moved to the summit of the national men’s league with a 3-1 thrashing over Daystar University in the university derby.

Multimedia who took their point tally to six got their first after 28 minutes when Gilbert Kosgei received a long pass from his defender, Tony Keya to tap home.

Jared Kogin got Multimedia’s second goal in the 51st minute connecting Keya who turned provider again, releasing another long ball from Multimedia’s half and Kogin wasted no chance to give his side the the commanding lead.

Multimedia ,playing with a number of junior players who are making their debut in the league got their third when Kogin released a crossed from the left, finding Edgar Rotich well placed in the Daystar’s D area and he rounded his marker, before sending the shot into Daystar’s empty net in the 58 minute.

Daystar pulled one back through attacker, Conrad Mandela with seven minutes left to play. George Jalang’o, Multimedia coach believes he has the squad who can maintain the tempo at the summit of the table especially after the return of his regular players who are currently on break until May.
