Aug 14, 2010-

Jamhuri High School and St. Marks from Nyanza will renew acquaintances in the boys’ soccer finals as the National Secondary Schools Games draws to a close on Saturday in Kisumu.

‘Jamu’, as the Nairobi representatives are fondly known, saw off Coast's Waa High School 3-2 in a closely fought match with goals from Isaac Andika (30minute) and Harrison Mwendwa (40th minute, 60th minute). Waa's late rally that produced goals from Mdindi Kijiko and Captain Athmani Bori proved to be too little, too late.

Nyanza's representatives St.Marks, qualified from the other semi-final match by  beating Laiser Hill (Rift Valley) by a solitary goal. The goal was scored through a 55th minute penalty  taken by Reuben Ontari. The final will be played at  Kisumu's Moi Stadium.

The girls football will also pit Nairobi versus Nyanza. Nairobi’s New Jogoo Girls booked their place in the final by beating Archbishop Njenga from Western 3-1 in post match penalty shoot-out, while Nyanza champions Sega Girls defeated Bishop Muge from Rift Valley by a solitary goal from tournament’s leading scorer Zilpher Adongo.

In girls Volleyball, Tetu Girls (Central) advanced to the finals after beating Weaver Bird (Rift Valley) 3-1(25-13,25-19,22-25,25-18) to set up a meeting with

Malava Girls (Western) who whitewashed Moi Uloma Girls (Nyanza) 3-0 (25-11,25-8,25-10).

Malava Boys joined their sister school by edging out a determined Hospital Hill (Nairobi) 3-1 in a hotly contested match and will meet the defending champions Cheptil Boys from Rift Valley in what promises to be thrilling final match.
