• Gohil wins Crossroads Rapid play

Mehul  ‘Gorilla’ Gohil of Nairobi Chess Club tore through a strong field to win the monthly rapid play tournament at Crossroads,Nairobi last weekend. 

Gohil finished unbeaten with six out of seven points drawing only two games, one against the runner-up Matthew Kanegeni of KCB.

In third place was Stima’s Ricky Sang,’ who also doubled as joint sponsor with the Checkmates Chess Club.

The Challengers’ section was won by Kevin Mutembei.

Brian Toboso and Chahindi Mbiu finished second and third respectively.

In the league matches played over the weekend, current leaders Nairobi Chess Club were wrong footed by giant killers Kenyatta University losing  3-1.

Stima on the other hand revived their title hopes with a 3-1 win over Nairobi University while defending champions National Bank of Kenya maintained their winning streak by drubbing Kenya Polytechnic 4-0 .
