Commonwealth Games Champion Jason Dunford hopes to put behind a sixth place finish in the 100m butterfly when he returns to the pool for the shorter version on Friday at the FINA world swimming championships in Dubai.

Jason finished a distant seventh in final of the men’s 100m Butterfly in 50.79 seconds, which was won by the reigning European champion Evgeny Korotyshkin (50.23).

Venezuela’s Albert Subirats’s added yet another silver from from the one he won at the 2006 world championships placing second (50.24) while Kaio Almeida of Brazil (50.33).

His younger brother David was also unlucky finishing fourth in his heat of the men’s 50m freestyle, which placed him 22nd overall missing out on the semi-finals.

Jason will be in action in the men’s 50m butterfly where he will be hoping to pick his second gold medal barely two months after his triumph at the Delhi Games,before his final event on Saturday.

David will compete in his second event-the men’s 100m on friday.

Kenya has never won a medal at the world championships.
