Kenya’s Harambee stars have now been paired with Sudan and DR Congo in Group B of the inaugural Nile Basin Soccer tournament that begins on January 5 in Cairo, Egypt.

Harambee stars who arrived in Cairo on Monday begins its campaign against Sudan on the opening day of the tournament aimed at raising awareness around the River Nile.

The hosts Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi will now compete in Group A following Sudan’s request not to play the Cranes who they will play in the qualifying rounds of the Africa Nations Championship in February.

According to the tournament draw the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi finals on January 14 with the finals set for 17.

Harambee stars coached by Zedekiah Otieno will be looking to redeem itself after a poor showing at the regional Confederation of East and Central Africa Championships last December, losing all its group games to Malawi, Ethiopia and Uganda.
