Jan 05, 2011-

The Kenyan Netball Federation has named provisional squads that will begin preparations for the Africa Nations cup slated for May in Ghana.

The chairperson of the Netball Federation, Lilian Anupi released a list of 75 players drawn from schools, clubs and colleges countrywide for non-residential training at various selected venues at the end of February.

The men’s team of 43 is largely drawn from clubs and university teams.

The players will be whittled down before the team’s expected departure for Ghana where they will be seeking qualification for the All Africa Games to be held in Mozambique in September 2011.

This will be the second time that netball-one of the oldest games in sporting history- will be featuring at the Continental games as medal contenders.

The sport mainly played by women in over 70 countries, hopes to follow the Rugby Sevens and Golf by campaigning for its addition to the 28 sports competed at the Olympic games.
