Kenyan international George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Randers FC for an undisclosed fee that will tie him to the Danish club until June 2015.

The former Gor Mahia striker is now expected to join his teammates for the pre-season training on January 10.

A product of the popular Kenyan secondary school games, Odhiambo began his professional career with Gor Maha in February 2009.

“I am extremely proud, pleased and grateful to join Randers FC. It is also the beginning of an exiting adventure with and for the people and the football club of Randers,” said the youngster who played a pivotal role in Gor’s second place finish in the Kenya Premier League.

“I’ve just turned 18, and fulfilling my childhood dream by joining a good club in a competitive European League is the best present for me.”

Blackberry’s arrival is set to boost Randers FC, which is currently lying third from the bottom of the Danish Superliga.

Randers FC managing director Jacob Nielsen said:

“During the last six months we have been keeping an eye on George Odhiambo at both club and international level, and we noted his great potential as a striker.

He is only 18 and has still at lot to learn, but he will be interesting to follow alongside our other strikers. Even though he is a regular in the Kenyan international 11, he will have to fight hard to gain a regular place in our line up in the Superleague-team, says Jacob Nielsen.”

Blackberry could debut on March 6,when Randers resume play in the Superliga after a three months winter break.

The 2010 Kenyan Player of the year with 16 international caps, scored 18 goals for Gor in 46 appearances.
