Three players were doped from the men's national team that will be taking part in the Africa Group U, 3rd round World Championship Qualifiers.

Coach Gideon Chenje, on Thursday dropped left attacker, Cornelius Lagat, libero Bonventre Mukeke and left attacker, Peter Kibata from the squad that had been in residential training at Kasarani.

The trimming means that Elisha Aliwa (Ulinzi) and Daniel Kiptoo (Kenya Prisons) have already made the cut into the team as the two setters while Alex Kariuki will have to fight for the libero place with Italy-based John Ndung'u.

Bernard Musumba (GSU) and Kenya Prison's Dennis Mukua will vie for a first place in the left attack when Chenje names the final 12 players after the arrival of all foreign based players next week. Mike Chemos, James Ontere and Philip Maiyo are all expected to join the 14 member squad next week from their respective based in abroad.

The team will resume to non residential training after Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) stopped the plan on the last minute.

"We were supposed to get to the camp today (Friday) but Federation sent the message late last night. We have our bags but well just continue with the practice as we wait for further communication," said coach Chenje.

Kenya is pooled alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, Botswana and Namibia in the third round whose winner will represent Africa in Poland.
