The match between AFC Leopards and Sony Sugar which was to be played today at the Nyayo National Stadium has been postponed indefinitely.

In a letter addressed to Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Chief Executive Officer Jack Oguda, Football Kenya Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya cited confusion occasioned by a court injunction deterring the club’s current office bearers from acting as the bona fide officials as the reason for the postponement.

“Since Leopards are the hosting team, it has come to our attention that no proper security arrangement has been put in place.

In view of the confusion, the federation is left with no choice but to cancel the match until further notice”, the statement read in part.

“Resulting from the said court order, and the legal contention between the two AFC Leopards factions, this encroaches (sic) high security match which is bound to culminate to endangering people safety”, Nyamweya added.

Meanwhile, a resurgent Gor Mahia, will on saturday take the battle to KCB at the City Stadium.

Two wins on the trot have renewed K’Ogalo’s confidence ahead of the match. Sofapaka will also be in action away to Muhoroni Youth.

Though considered the pre-match favourites, Sofapaka will wary of the Muhoroni side’s fighting spirit. Batoto ba Mungu head coach Salim Ali is playing it safe lest his team slips up and misses all three points.

With Leopards out of action, Sofapaka will be relishing a chance to take over the league leadership. Leopards top the table with 27 points followed by Sofapaka and Tusker on 26 and 25 points respectively.

In Saturday’s other match, Western Stima will host Nairobi City Stars at Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium.

Only two matches will be played on Sunday. Karuturi Sports will host neighbours Oserian in the flower derby at the ‘Old Trafford’, while Thika United will be looking to continue their fine run when entertain Mathare United in Thika.
