Nov 03, 2012

Jason Dunford wrapped up a rather successful splash at the National Aquatics centre in Beijing managing a bronze in the 100m Butterfly, his first medal in the event at the FINA World cup series.

Just hours after he sizzled with the gold in the dash in 23.14 seconds, Saturday was equally fruitful for the sole Kenyan contender in the series as he returned 51.34 for bronze.

The winner Australian Kenneth To had it wrapped up in the first 50m which he covered in 23.21 with Dunford just a stroke behind in 23.63.

Dunford who had the fastest qualifying time of 51.75 seconds, slowed in the last 50m which he covered in 27.71 compared to To and silver medallist Chinese Qibin Zhang’s 27.75.

To currently leads the men’s series standings with 110 points. Dunford now moves to Tokyo next weekend before the series ender in Singapore on November 10-11.
