Pascal Ochieng’s return to Rangers failed to ease the team’s recent woes in a scoreless draw against KCB in Kenya Premier League clash on Wednesday afternoon at the Nairobi City Stadium.

Ochieng was making his first appearance for the team in more than three weeks after he walked out on the club for non-payment of his salary for several months.

Chances were at a premium in the first half, though Ochieng’s 35th minute freekick 18 yards out went inches wide.

On the other end of the field, Rangers goalkeeper Lawrence Webo did well to keep out Brian Osumba’s long range shot on the stroke of half time.

On resumption, the bankers continued to dominate play with Rangers constantly on the backfoot. In the 60th minute, Jacob Keli spurned a decent chance to put KCB ahead after being put through by Mungai Kiongera.

A quick counter attack by Rangers almost resulted into a goal but an astute defending by Dennis Omondi foiled Joseph Njuguna’s attempt.

Keli had another chance when he broke free from the midfield but his goal bound shot was flicked for a corner by Webo. Rangers’ technical director James Nandwa expressed his satisfaction with the result.

“The boys played very well. Pascal’s (Ochieng) return was a source of great motivation to the team. He is the team leader and his return is good news to us”, Nandwa said.

However, the scoreless result did not do his side any good as they remain in the danger zone. KCB coach James Omondi was disappointed with his team’s blunt strike force.
