Kenyan Powerlifter bolts out, Rower drops to repachage

Kenyan rower Itaken Kipelian dropped down to repachage after finishing sixth in the AS men’s single sculls over 1000m o Friday at the Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro.

Kipelian, wild card entry trailed at the 250m, half way point and covered the race distance in 1:17.59 which he covered in 5:35.53 way behind the leader Ukrainian Roman Polianskyi, who qualified for the final after topping in 4:44.70.

All the other five competitors who lost to the heats winner dropped into the repechage bracket for the ranking.

In Powerlifting Gabriel Wanjiku failed in all his attempts to lift the 120 kilos and 125. Egyptian Osman Sheriff powered to a world record lift of 203 from his first shot in the 59 kilogram competition.
