After dropping points in their last two matches, league leaders AFC Leopards have what looks like an easy fixture against bottom side City Stars at Nyayo National Stadium in one of the three matches on Saturday.

Last weekend, Ingwe dug deep to salvage a point in Naivasha against Karuturi Sports in a match that ended 1-1. The result meant that Jan Koops’ men picked just one point in their last two outings having suffered their first defeat of the season against Tusker a week earlier.

Another slip up will add pressure on the team given that third-placed Tusker are also seeking to bounce back when they play struggling Rangers at the Nairobi City Stadium.

However, on paper Leopards will start as firm favorites and should have little problem in seeing off City Stars whose only victory was a 1-0 win over Oserian four weeks ago.

Already, Tusker coach Sammy Omollo has indicated that he might shuffle his forward line that failed to create any meaningful chances in Monday night’s 0-1 defeat to Sofapaka.

The tactician pointed out that his team’s recent goals have been coming from midfielders and defenders who have been capitalising on chances created through set pieces.

“My midfielders and defenders are scoring most of the goals. I will be forced to shuffle my strikers”, he said.

Omollo acknowledged that Rangers’ mentality to stand up to the ‘big boys’ in the league will make the match a tough encounter.

The good news for the brewers is the return of Dennis Mukaisi and Joseph Mbugi after long injury spells. In Saturday’s other match, Muhoroni Youth will entertain KCB in Muhoroni.

Four more matches will be on the cards Sunday. Focus will be in Western Kenya where Gor Mahia will face Chermelil Sugar just days after axing eight players for non-performance.

While the sugar millers are enjoying their best start to the season in recent years Gor are struggling to assert themselves in the competition.

Chemelil are placed fourth on the table with 21 points, while Gor, while who have only won three matches in twelve outings are eleventh with 13 points.

In other matches, Oserian will hosts fifth-placed Thika United as Ulinzi Stars travel to Kakamega to face Western Stima.

Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno’s Sony sugar will entertain Karuturi Sports at their adopted home ground at Gusii Stadium. Sofapaka who lie second on the log have a date with Mathare United on Monday under Nyayo National Stadium’s floodlights.

Weekend Fixtures: Saturday: Rangers vs Tusker (City-3pm), City Stars vs AFC Leopards (Nyayo-3pm), Muhroni Youth vs KCB (Muhoroni-3pm) Sunday: Western Stima vs Ulinzi Stars (Bukhungu-3pm), Oserian vs Thika United (Oserian-3pm0, Gor Mahia vs Chemelil Sugar (Chemelil-3pm), Sony Sugar vs Karuturi Sports (Gusii-3pm) Monday: Sofapaka vs Mathare United (Nyayo-7pm).
