Police and Green Sharks lead charge on a busy hockey weekend

Kenya Police and Green Sharks, the two top teams in the Kenya Hockey Union men's Premier League will all be in action on a busy weekend where 12 matches will be played in Nairobi and Nakuru.

The policemen will be in Nakuru while Green Sharks host Western Jaguars on Saturday at the City Park Stadium from 6 p.m.

Last weekend, Kenya Police beat KCA-U with goals by Oliver Echenje, Samuel Wokila and Robert Masibo who could also be fielded against NAC.

James Rioba who scored three goals against Kenyatta University could be the talisman for NAC.

Second-placed Green Sharks inflicted the second defeat to Butali Sugar Warriors last Saturday with Chris Wokila and Chris Muchwanju scoring. They could be inspired by the win against visiting Western Jaguars.

Kenyatta University were beaten 3-1 by Nakuru last Saturday. They face Western Jaguars on Sunday.

There are three matches in the women's Premier League. On Saturday, Strathmore University tackle Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) from 10 a.m. 

Last Saturday, Strathmore University beat Mombasa Sports Club 5-0. For this University Derby, they could have Gilly Okumu, Winnie Ingati, Susan Oketch and Harriet Ominde who scored goals against MSC.

Later, the United States International University - Africa tackle Vikings from 2 p.m. Both matches are at the City Park Stadium.

On Sunday, champions, Telkom Orange face Sliders from 11 a.m.They beat JKUAT 5-0 last weekend. Four of the goal scorers in that match namely Jackline Mwangi, Barbara Simiyu, Maureen Okumu and Lilian Aura could line up against Sliders.

Chase Amira who beat Mombasa Sports Club 5-0 with goals by Yvonne Madowo, Pauline Naise, Susan Oketch and Harriet Omondi will be on the terraces when Telkom Orange face Sliders.

Sunday - Men's Premier League: Kenyatta University v Western Jaguars (9 a.m.), USIU-A v Chase Sailors (1 p.m.), Technical University of Kenya v KCA-U (3 p.m.), Sikh Union, Nairobi v Strathmore University (5 p.m.); Women's Premier League: Telkom Orange v Sliders (11 a.m.); National League: Kabarak University v JKUAT (12 p.m. in Kabarak).
