Strathmore University, the defending Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League champions begin the second leg by facing first-placed Kenya Police at the City Park stadium on Saturday reports Alvin Wesonga.
The students who have won only one of their last five matches are up against a solid side which appears to be invincible.
Strathmore University coach Meshack Senge believes this will be a crucial match.
“It is a top table and very important to us, we finished the first leg on a high note so we expect to continue in that line. We want to give this match our best shot,” said Senge.
In another match, Kenyatta University appear to have had a tough start in the second leg. They beat Green Sharks but face an unpredictable Parklands Sports Club (PSC) who have been enjoying a good run despite losing to Kenya Police in a mid week match.
PSC are only two points ahead of their opponents Kenyatta university, but according to Captain Kelly Adolwa they are hoping to redeem themselves after their midweek loss.
“We cannot afford another loss this week. We hope to get back to our feet and fight as we have always done,” said Adolwa.
Kenyatta University coach Moses Kagochi added they will come to the match with their plan and hope to maintain a good run after their last win.
“We need to be cautious because Parklands play well. They are a good side so we hope to stick to our plan,” said Kagochi.
The return of midfielder Griffin Okombe and other notable players is a big boost because the bulk of the players have been on holiday.
In the other men’s Premier League matches Nakuru will be hosting the United States International University - Africa (USIU-A) while Sikh Union, Nairobi play KCA University and Park Road Badgers take on Chase Sailors.
