Unbeaten Parklands Arya qualify to next stage

Parklands Arya have qualified for the next round of the Nairobi Secondary Schools Sports Association girls' hockey league after completing their assignment by topping Pool C.

They are unbeaten in this pool, conceded no goal and scored 16. Their dominance is reflected in the top scorers' chart where Fatuma Omar is the leading scorer with seven goals one ahead of team mate Marianah Njeri.

In their last match, Parklands Arya beat Loreto Convent, Msongari 3-1. Njeri scored two goals and Omar one. They also edged out a resurgent Buruburu 1-0. Aziza Hassan scored the lone goal.

Perhaps the best performance on day two of the competition came from Kianda who upset Mt. Laverna 1-0 by a goal from Enede Wanjala. Kianda opened the day by beating State House Girls 1-0. Maria Muma scored. They emerged 1-0 winners over Ngara with Wanjala scoring.

Buruburu were the biggest winners on day two beating Pangani 4-1. In this match, Mary Murunga and Mariana Njonje scored two goals each for Buruburu with Perpetua Linda scoring the consolation for the former champions Pangani.

Mutunga and Nyonje also scored a goals each in their 2-0 win over Loreto Convent, Msongari.

On day two, Moi Nairobi Girls, the defending champions were not in action. They lead Pool A with nine points while Starehe Girls are second with six points. Starehe Girls drew 0-0 with Kenya High and St Georges'.

After the second round, Moi Nairobi Girls, Starehe Girls and Ngara are likely to move to the knock-out stage before the eventual winner emerge to represent the region at the Metroplitan championship in Machakos.
