Vadada's chance to impress in Uganda

Stray Lions opening batsman and wicket keeper Abraham Vadada has been named to the Kenya A side that is set to play in a Quadrangular series in Kampala, Uganda.

The series set to begin on November 20 will involve the Kenya side, Zimbabwean side Takashinga Cricket Club and two sides from hosts Uganda.

Cricket Kenya opted to send a second string side to the event as the national team will be taking on Hong Kong in the ICC World Cricket League Championship fixture at Nairobi Gymkhana from Friday.

As a result, CK selectors went for a totally new side comprising of young players and those who excelled in the NPCA league.

But the selection that caught many by surprise was of Vadada. Vadada has for the better part of the year been snubbed by the national team selectors despite having been selected in the team last year under Steve Tikolo.

When Thomas Odoyo took over, Vadada who was one of the best performers with the bat remained in the cold. He was placed fifth in the ranking with 540 runs from 14 inning at an average of 38.57. His total included two centuries and two half centuries He was also the second best wicket keeper in the league.

Vadada is delighted

A soft spoken Vadada was delighted with the selection saying he is going to play to the best of his ability. “Being selected to any team is always a good thing and I am delighted that I have been selected once again to represent my country. I will do my best and hope that things work for better for me and the team,” said Vadada.

Emmanuel Bundi who was dropped from the team to play Hong Kong will captain the 14-man squad after Elijah Otieno snubbed the selection into the team.

Vadada will be assisted in pilling up runs with in experienced Joseph Owino, Karan Patel, Kavi Dosaja, Aman Gandi and Rahul Seedhar Bundi will steer the bowling attack alongside Peterson Kamau, Pushpak Kerai and Martin Mworia.
